What goes in our Budboxes?

Thinking about subscribing to Budbox, but want to know more about what you'll receive? Thinking of giving a Budbox as a gift to a loved one?

In this week's blog post, we're going to chat about how we think about curating a box each month for our customers.

THE BASIC IDEA

Taking our mixed case as an example, the box will contain 6 wines - usually 2 reds, 2 whites, 1 sparkling, and a show stopper wine, which usually is a bottle that is a favourite here at Budbox.

The wines will come from all over the world, and be a range of styles to help you better understand what's in your glass. The box gives a nice contrast of different wines for you to enjoy throughout the month.

TIME OF THE YEAR

We also try and be seasonal - that means you'll likely get a sweet wine and more fizz in the run up to the festive period, wines that'll pair well with Turkey in December, more full bodied reds in the autumn, light and easy drinking summer wines, as wines that pair well with classic Swiss cheesy dishes for January and February!

UNUSUAL VARIETIES, UNUSUAL REGIONS, GREAT STORIES

When we chose our wines, we think about three different things. Varieties that you might not have come across before in the local supermarket; regions that are hard to find in Switzerland, often from a little further afield, or wines where we love the story of the winemaker and the way in which the produce their wine.

AN EXAMPLE BOX :

Here's what a box could look like for you, with an example tasting note sheet, that you'll receive via a QR code on your box when it arrives at your door step. The tasting note will be full of information about the winery, the winemaker and what you should be tasting in your glass.

  • Metodo Classico, Contratto, 2018, Piedmont, Italy
  • Noir Coteaux, Goutorbe-Bouillot, Champagne, France, NV
